Carrie was born on March 10, 1983 in Oklahoma.She grew up on a cattle farm in
Checotah with her mother, father, two older sisters shanna and stephine, and pets that included cows, rabbits, cats,
dogs, and other animals that happened across her path and into her heart.
do to the way carrie was brought up Carrie won't eat beef because she
sees the cows as her pets. because of the age difference between herself and her sisters, Carrie developed an exceptionally
strong bond and friendship with her mom.
She attends the First Freewill Baptist Church and sings in the
choir which was on of her first inspirations of singing and at that time she was three- years old, She also took piano lessons for eight years and is an accomplished guitar player.
Prior to American
Idol,
Carrie performed
at many festivals and shows in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Tennessee. She was a member of the five piece star rise band That played 60's Rock & Roll and Country. She has even been the opening act for Diamond Rio, The Wilkerson's, Exile,
Gene Watson, Billy Hoffman, and Earl Thomas Conley. She made several recordings in Nashville with Chuck Howard and John Guess
and recorded songs written by Beth Neilson Chapman and other given to her by the publishers Jason Houser, Willis Jones and
Island Bound.
Carrie attended
school in Checotah. She graduated in 2001 with straight "A's" and National Honor's Society recognition. While in school, Carrie
played softball and basketball. She was also a cheerleader and a member of the school chorus. She spent one summer as a page
for Oklahoma representative Bobby Frame.
When Carrie isn't in
the studio or on the stage, she's furthering her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Ok where she was
a senior Mass Communications major which is where she maintained a 3.5+ GPA. If you had just met her and
didn't know any differently, you would think Carrie was a typical young woman that loves her family, pizza, horror movies
and football. She's an absolute sweetheart and a pleasure to visit with.
But,
when you get a chance
to see her perform, you realize right away that she's far from typical.... she's a rising star! in 2004, Carrie tried out for season 4 of American
Idol and made it through to Hollywood.
She continued
to make it through each round and was never voted into the bottom three. On May 25th, 2005 she was crowned the new American
Idol. Carrie underwood is such a talented singer, she has set her goals and is seeing them through to
the fullest. on J leno Carrie said "I never imagend i would make it past the 1st step." and now she is American's Idol ! During
the competition she said " Im in this to win." AND SHE DID !!! Carrie is currently in the studio working
on her new album Scheduled to premier in the fall.
